Collaborative Divorce

Collaborative Divorce is where the spouses and their lawyers commit to negotiating a settlement agreement without going to trial.

How it works:

  1. Each party hires their own lawyer to represent them.
  2. Lawyers facilitate a series of four-way meetings with the spouses to discuss the issues and come to an agreement.
  3. If an agreement is reached, lawyers put it in writing and it’s included in the final divorce decree.

If an agreement is not reached, the case goes to court and each party must hire new counsel.
